Maria is a horse rider, and a beginner trainee. Our aim was to strengthen her posterior muscles as she competes, however she also wanted to tone up. 

how did we train?

As she has more free time, we train 3-4x per week, intensity varies across sessions and we can also focus on technique. As Maria is young, one of our aims is to develop good training habits early.

We’ve focused on bodyweight exercises and mastering the movements, and have progressed to compound exercises including split squats, rowing and pulling variations, and deadlifts.

nutrition

Big focus on education and building good habits here, especially as Maria is a student. Her decision making around food has improved; we’ve used food and picture diaries in order to get a better overview her diet. This strategy has improved awareness over food consumption, and has helped with decision making.Biggest plus was, this had minimal disruption to her daily routine.

Training performance has improved, technique has improved, measurements and weight have decreased, confidence inside and outside the gym has gone up, happy on all fronts!Outside of the gym, Maria is also competing in horse riding competitions.
